WOMEN IN IRISH HISTORY

Women have played a sound part in Irish history, but mostly behind the scenes. They did very well under the Brehon Laws, as we shall see. They got the vote in parliamentary elections, for the first time, in 1918, and they may have changed the course of Irish history by the Sinn Fein landslide which followed. Can you say in what way were the ten ladies on the following list remarkable in Irish history.

) Queen Maeve. (early Christian era ).
) Lady Augusta Gregory (1852-1932 ).
) Dervorgilla (1108-93 )
) Anne Devlin, ( 1778-1843
) Maude Gonne (1865-1953 ).
) Constance Gore- Booth, (1868-1927)
) Deirdre, (early Christian era ).
) Kitty 0' Shea .( 1846-1921) .
) Niamh Chinn Oir. ( 3rdcent ).
) Maria Edgeworth, (1767-1849 ).
